In a dark apartment a laptop sits on top a coffee table. The light from the screen illuminates the room only slightly, from the shadows someone watches, looking for answers. A blank dos screen appears on the computer.

The video begins to play. All that is visible is black static, but you can hear people speaking.

Helicopter Pilot: We are approaching Emotion Core Generator 2231. ETA 10 minutes, the helipad team is aware of our arrival and will take you straight to the facility. It’s been an honor Miss Lilynette.

Lilynette: Thank you pilot.

Sounds of helicopter blades fill the audio, eventually a clunk sound can be heard and the whirling sound of the helicopter blades begins to die down. Movement can be heard as the people exit the helicopter.

Lilynette: Eloxi VI power up, we have arrived.

Writing appears on the screen.

The screen starts to come to life. Fuzzy and crackly at first but then clear, the face of a beautiful woman is filling the screen. She has long blond hair and bright blue eyes that compliment her pale skin. With a content smile she nods.

Lilynette: Welcome to your new home Eloxi VI. I know you are unable to speak, but you do understand me. Do you know who I am?

The A.I. answers with a nod. Some words begin to appear on the screen.

Lilynette: Good follow me then.

Lilynette turns and exits the Helicopter. Looking around the helicopter writing appears on the screen noting every object; Eloxi VI logs everything in her vicinity, storing a map of it in her systems for future use if needed. Eloxi VI exits the helicopter she turns to Lilynette who is looking up into the sky holding out her hand. Eloxi VI mimics her and as the A.I. looks into the sky drops of water start to fill the screen, looking back towards Lilynette Eloxi VI then looks towards her own hand and holds it out in front of her palm facing up. Lilynette notices Eloxi VI’s behavior and smiles.

Lilynette: It’s called rain. Look it up and you’ll see that it is the life of every organic thing on this planet; A truly wondrous element.

A security guard approaches the two.

Security Guard: Ma’am your team is ready and waiting for you, please follow me to the transport deck and I will take you to the Emotion Core Facility.

Lilynette and Eloxi VI follow the security guard towards a large warehouse. Looking around Eloxi VI once again logs everything in sight for possible future use. The video ends.

Lilynette: Eloxi VI power up.

Eloxi VI powers up. Standing in front of her are two women, one of them Eloxi VI identifies as Lilynette. The other is Dr Rowen Rose, Lead engineer at the Emotion Core Generator 2231. With black hair that is tied in a plat and glasses the woman looks pleased to see Eloxi VI.

Rowan: Remarkable! I can’t believe I’m actually seeing an Eloxi model. Why is she here?

Lilynette: She is a gift.

Rowan: ???

Lilynette: A gift for you. Your work here has not gone unnoticed Rowan. Neptune is pleased with what you have achieved here. And that is why I have chosen your facility for my next project.

Rowan: I don’t know what to say! Thank you.

Lilynette: Eloxi VI initiate Rowan Rose file.

Eloxi VI sits silently, the sound of her processers and fans inside her can be heard working.

Eloxi VI gets to her feet and takes a step towards Rowan. Rowan warily backs off. Lilynette lets out a little laugh.

Lilynette: She is now yours to command.

Rowan looks towards Lilynette while still keeping an eye on Eloxi VI.

Lilynette: Go on, issue a command.

Rowan: Umm… Sit.

Without hesitation Eloxi VI takes a seat in the chair behind her. Rowan can’t believe the situation before her and looks elated at the prospects of having her own A.I.

Lilynette: You are a good employee Rowan. And this week you are going to help me change the world. Eloxi VI power down, me and Rowan has some planning to make.

Rowan: Eloxi VI power up.

Eloxi VI powers up and is welcomed by a smiling Rowan Rose. Eloxi VI carries out a quick face recognition and surveys her surroundings. The room is small with the furniture inside tightly packed together. Sitting on the bed opposite her is Rowan. She is smiling and holding a small data pad. Rowan turns the screen to face Eloxi VI and on it is the face of a middle aged man and a small girl. Writing appears on the screen theorizing that the man is between the age of 35 – 38 and the small girl 2 – 4.

Rowan: Eloxi VI meet Cid Rose my husband and Megan Rose my daughter.

Cid: Holy crap Rowan! I can’t believe we have our own A.I. and an advance model at that. People are going to think we are rolling in it! I’m so proud of you honey.

Rowan: Cid!

Cid: Ooops sorry Holy Flip I ‘m mean.

Rowan: Eloxi VI, say hi to your new family.

The mention of the world ‘family’ makes Eloxi VI tilt her head towards Rowan.

Rowan: Eloxi VI, search the meaning of family.

As if by instinct Eloxi VI raises her hand and starts waving towards the three humans in front of her.

Megan: Mummy why doesn’t it talk?

Rowan: It’s not programmed to honey… But I don’t see why I can’t make it.

A different type of smile appears on Rowans face as she looks Eloxi VI up and down. Rowan turns the data pad screen to face her.

Rowan: Anyway my darlings I must go Lilynette is holding a celebratory dinner tonight so I mustn’t be late. I love you both so much. Take care of my little girl Daddy.

Cid: I always do. Love you honey.

Megan: Love you mummy.

Rowan taps the data pad and lays it on the bed. Standing up she walks over to her dresser. Following her movement Eloxi VI watches Dr. Rowan pull out two lab coats from the dresser, she holds them up to Eloxi VI.

Rowan: Which one.

Eloxi VI notes that both lab coats look exactly the same; plain white. Rowan laughs at Eloxi VI and picks the lab coat in her right hand.

Rowan: I know right! Such a difficult choice, I can’t wait to go home and have my proper wardrobe. Any way Eloxi it’s been fun as always but we are needed elsewhere. Let’s go.

Eloxi VI stands up but the video ends and cuts out.

Rowan: Eloxi VI power up.

Eloxi VI awakens to the sight of a maintenance room ceiling, turning her head left and right you can see that the room is more of a workshop, filled with spare machine and robotic parts. Rowan leans her head into view; she looks flustered and is covered in dust, grease, and sweat. Her normally tidy platted hair is in bunches and parts of her fringe is stuck to her forehead covered in sweat. She is wearing brown dungarees with a white t-shirt together with a pair of black tinted goggles that are resting on the top of her head. With a beaming smile on her face Rowan stares towards Eloxi VI.

With a computerised woman’s voice Eloxi VI says her first words. Rowan is still smiling.

Rowan: Eloxi VI initiate file L0V1, L0V2, and L0V4.

Eloxi VI: Search Initiated. File L0V1, L0V2, L0V4. Found. Initiate. Installing files. Install Complete.

Rowan: So… Eloxi VI, How do you feel?

Eloxi VI: … I … Feel … A. A.. Alive! I am alive!

Rowan: Yes you are.

Eloxi VI sits up and grabs Rowan, Squeezing her gently. Rowan gasps a little.

Rowan: Umm Eloxi you holding me a little too tightly.

Eloxi VI releases her grasp.

Eloxi VI: I am sorry Dr Rose

The two stay looking at each other for a while until another scientist enters the room huffing and puffing.

Scientist: Dr Rose! You must come quickly it’s urgent.

Eloxi VI: Good evening Dr Cai.

Dr Cai stands in astonishment from hearing Eloxi VI’s voice.

Dr Cai: She can talk! Rowan you are brilliant. Hi Eloxi please to meet you. Rowan you need to come with me! Lilynette has gone insane she has blocked access off to sub section 8. We still have audio feed and it doesn’t sound good. She is talking to herself in riddles. I think the testing is finally breaking her!

Rowan: Ok I’m coming. Eloxi stay here I will be back for you once I am done.

Eloxi VI: Take care Dr Rose and Dr Cai. Good day.

Rowan and Dr Cai rush out of the room. Eloxi VI approaches a broken mirror hanging in the corner of the room. The reflection in the mirror shows a tall, sleek, white female robot with bright yellow eyes. Eloxi VI stares into the mirror.

Eloxi VI: I am alive.

Eloxi VI powers up, she looks around the room and you can see that she is in Rowan’s private quarters. Rowan is sitting on her bed facing Eloxi VI, she looks worried and scared.

Rowan: Eloxi can you tell me about section 12 of the Telso Corp hazards manual.

Eloxi VI: In the event of rouge testing please inform your line manager or head of department. If the issue poses a threat to the safety of employees or risks damage to high level equipment the Telsa Corporation Response Team must be contacted. Once the threat has been evaluated a member of the TCRT will be sent to assess the situation.

Rowan sighs and nods.

Rowan: That’s what I thought. We don’t have time to wait. Eloxi are you linked up to the 00 data feed?

Eloxi VI: No A.I. available to the public is fitted with that connection.

Rowan: Figures.

Eloxi VI: But I am still in beta testing so have access to the 00 data feed.

Rowan looks please at the response and moves herself closer to Eloxi VI.

Rowan: That’s perfect! Eloxi what I am about to say to you must only be relayed to Neptune; Managing director of Telsa Corporation, Level 00 access. This is important information and must not be seen by anyone else ok.

Eloxi VI: I understand.

Rowan: Good. Eloxi VI please start recording.

Eloxi VI: Ready to record.

Rowan Rose: Neptune this is Rowan Rose head engineer at Emotion Core Generator 2231. Level 8 access, Telsa code 895467. I am concerned about Lilynette. The testing she is doing here is I believe starting to affect her judgment. She is starting to become reckless in her pursuit of whatever it is she is looking for. And she is starting to exclude my team from helping with her tests. I am concerned for the safety of this facility and my team here. I would appreciate some advice on what I should do next.  

Rowan sits back on her bed and removes her glasses to wipe the sweat off her head.

Rowan: Eloxi please forward that onto Neptune’s direct email.

Eloxi VI: It is done.

Rowan: Thank you, power down.

Rowan looks deep in thought after hearing the message. She looks into the screen.

Rowan: No one must know that Neptune is coming. It is vital that we do not provoke Lily at present, she is not herself. Thank you Eloxi, power down.

Rowan: Eloxi VI power up.

Eloxi VI’s screen comes to life. The whole room is darkened and the red alarm lights are whirling about filling the room with a red glare. Rowan is staring into the screen looking very worried.

Rowan: Eloxi! I need you to go to sub section 8 and use your overrides to gain access to the area. Lily has locked it down and I am getting readings that there is a Sylocin leak. Please check it out and if the readings are right do not linger, your armor will not keep the Sylocin out of your processers. Return to me and I will plan our next course of action. Neptune has finally arrived so I need to meet her. We will be in the Emotion Core control room.

Eloxi VI: Yes Dr Rose. I will be careful.

The video starts to play. On screen is the view of a locked down metallic door. The alarm is still sounding and the red light from the alarms is filling the view. Eloxi VI looks over to the doors control panel and types in a code. The door rejects the code and denies access. Eloxi VI rips off the cover, bringing her hand into view a number of wires start to appear from her finger tips, Eloxi VI aims them at the exposed wirings of the control panel and the wires start to light up as a series of numbers appears on the control panels screen. Eventually Eloxi VI overrides the lockdown and the metallic doors slowly slide open. The corridor in front of Eloxi VI is covered in darkness, Eloxi VI switches to night vision. Smoke fills the corridor and bare wires are hanging from the ceiling with sparks flying off of them. As Eloxi VI makes her way through the corridor everything seems lifeless, turning into a corner a number of readings appear on screen. Eloxi VI continues through the dark looking for Lilynette.

Rowan: ELOXI! Can you hear me? We are in the control room. The Sylocin readings have been confirmed you need to get back here no…

Neptune: No! Eloxi VI this is Neptune, clearance level 0010. Proceed with you investigation of sub section 8.

Rowan: WHAT! No! You can’t do that. She will die!

Neptune: She is a Telso Corporation A.I. she is not alive. She is built to serve. Eloxi VI you need to find Lily. Rowan patch in Eloxi VI’s camera feed onto the screen, I want to see for myself what is happening.

Rowan: Yes Ma’am.

Eloxi VI carries on down the corridor eventually coming to Lily’s lab. Turning to face the thick glass window of the room you can’t make anything out as it is filled with black smoke.

???: AAAARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!

Rowan: Lily!

Neptune: Rowan activate the sprinklers now!

Rowan: What! The Sylocin readings are coming from her lab. That gas may well be the Sylocin! You know what happens if it mixes with water. The Emotion Core is directly under Sub Section 8. We can’t risk any exposure to it or this facility will become nuclear!

Neptune: Rowan! My best friend is in that lab turn on the sprinklers!

Rowan: I can’t, I won’t!

Lilynette: AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!

Neptune: TURN THEM ON NOW!

Eloxi VI smashes through the thick glass releasing the gas into the corridor. As everything clears a figure can be seen. Her skin blue as her bones can be seen showing through her skin as if all of her body fat has begun fading away. Her A.I can be seen laying besides her, the tube still feeding through her body where a small puncture can be seen on Eloxi's camera, showing a feint yellow stream flowing through. Her hair slowly fading from blue to a pale blond. As she lays on her side, still in a ball she whispers riddles to herself as she slowly rocks. As Eloxi crawls towards her, she notices the figure is in fact Professor Lilynette. As she crawls over to Lilynette, the sprinklers begin switch on and spray water on both of them.

Suddenly Lilynette's skin begins to go pale as the liquid flowing between her body and the A.I begins to change and boil. She let's out a scream as her skin begins to show yellow marks that travel along her body up to neck. Suddenly smoke begins to rise from her skin as she begins to rock violently, slowly crawling at the ground as her skin begins to go deathly pale. Eloxi quickly crawls over and grabs Lilynette's arm. As a lily looks up towards Eloxi VI, two large glowing lights begin to show where eyes where once. Suddenly the video cuts dead.

The video starts with a view of the Emotion Core control room. The view is from a height as the robot recording it is at least 10 feet tall. The alarms are still sounding and Rowan and Neptune are looking at a black static screen.

Rowan: Eloxi? Eloxi VI? no!

Neptune: Control. lockdown sub section 8 and get a cleanup team down there we have a leak.

Control: Yes Ma’am on our wa…

A massive explosion echoes through the building sending the two women tumbling to the ground. The alarm siren changes to a more sinister sound.

Alarm: WARNIG! WARNING! THE FACILITY HAS BEEN COMPROMISED! ALL EMPLOYEES TO THE EVACUATION AREAS! ALL EMPLOYEES TO THE EVACUATION AREAS!

Neptune: Rowan what’s going on?

Rowan frantically checks the computer readings on the control panel.

Rowan: Oh no!... The Sylocin has entered into the vents and is spreading throughout the facility. We can’t stop it. Once it hits the core the facility will become nuclear. I will try and lockdown the air vents to the core to give us some time.

Neptune: You know it’s too late for all of that.

Neptune turns her head towards the black static screen.

Neptune: I am so sorry Lily my friend. May you rest peacefully.

Rowan and Neptune make their way towards the exit when another explosion rumbles through the facility making the two women fall to the floor once more. Debris falls from the roof and the door to the room slides shut. A look of terror appears on Rowans face as see races towards the door. Frantically trying to open the door she falls to the floor in tears.

Rowan: The control panel is damaged! The door is lock tight.

Neptune: Maximus smash through the door.

Rowan: The door is 5ft thick reinforced Tungsten. It will take hours for your A.I. to break through and we don’t have that sort of time.

Neptune looks at Rowan who is sitting down cradling her legs as she leans against the door. Tears are running down her face.

Rowan: The Sylocin will enter into the room soon and we will die a horrible death. If only she had waited just a few more days. She has doomed us all, your best friend has doomed us all.

Neptune sighs and walks towards Rowan. She helps her to her feet and hugs her.

Neptune: I am sorry Rowan. You are truly a remarkable person. I will make sure you family is looked after.

A confused look appears on Rowans face. Neptune releases her hug and walks towards the screen. Looking into the screen she wipes a single tear from her left cheek.

Neptune: Maximus initiate protocol 666.

The screen starts to move around the room and then comes back to its original view. Rowan is looking on in shock as Neptune ducks down and disappears of screen.

Rowan: Wait! No you can’t! There must be room in there for me? Please!

Neptune: I truly am sorry Rowan. But I need to survive this; Telsa is going to need me after the fallout. I am sorry. Maximus close me in, seal all air vents and initiate stasis.

Rowan: Please Neptune.

Neptune: …

Rowan: I’m pregnant!

Silence falls on the room for a moment as Rowan looks towards the screen tears streaming down her face. Looking lost and broken she waits for a response.

Neptune: I am truly sorry Dr Rose. Maximus begin.

Mechanical sounds can be heard off screen as parts move together and lock. The screen stays fixed on Rowan. She races towards the screen hammering on it.

Rowan: Please Neptune! Don’t leave me here to die. What about my family! My husband! My little girl! Please do not do this!

Gas starts to ooze through the vents in the room. Looking around her Rowan backs away from the screen. Falling to her knees the gas approaches her. Still sobbing she looks at her hand that starts turning black. Lifting her head to face the screen black marks start to appear around her cheeks and forehead.

Rowan: Promise me you will look after my family.

The camera cuts to black static.

The laptop screen reverts to the desktop. The darkened apartment is silent. A figure is sitting on the couch in front of the laptop. Sounds of crying can be heard. A phone in the apartment begins to ring. The figure slowly gets to her feet and approaches the phone.
